Janis comes to us from Essex Ontario, Canada where she began dancing at the age of 5. She started her dance career with Nancy Pattison’s Dance World, and trained at both J&L Danceforce and Edmunds Towers School of Dance. During the 15 years of fundamental training, she received scholarships to study at Steps on Broadway in NYC, EDGE Performing Arts Center in L.A. Janis’ career began as a dancer and choreographer in such productions as Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Pirates of Penzance and Here’s Love. Dancing professionally she was a member of The Detroit Pistons Dance Team “Automotion” and the Inaugural Cast of Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas. Since making Chicago her home she has performed as a dancer with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Janis continues to work professionally as a dancer, choreographer and project manager for such clients as Motorola, America’s Beauty Show and Lions Club International which have afforded her the privilege to travel to such places as Toronto, Hawaii and Japan for her career. In addition to performing and choreographing she has also used her talent and knowledge being a recurring judge for many years at Cathy Roe’s Ultimate Dance Competition. She is also a producer and stage manager for various hair shows and hair award shows. Above all else Janis’ favorite way to share her talent is with her two daughters and with all of her students in the studio mentoring them, helping them grow and sharing her love and passion of this incredible art.
